Who this is for
Teams building or migrating to an internal developer platform on Kubernetes, wanting senior architectural input before committing to a substrate or shape. Cloud-agnostic across AKS, EKS, and GKE; substrate-agnostic across the common choices.
What's included
- Platform architecture design
- Substrate selection across the common choices
- Golden-path templates and developer experience sketches
- RBAC and tenancy model
- Observability integration plan
- Rollout and migration sequencing
- Reference implementation where the shape allows
How this engagement runs
Every step is scoped before the engagement starts. Nothing happens that wasn't agreed in the scoping call.
Steps
- 01
Scoping call
30 minutes to outline the platform shape and the constraints: substrate, team size, existing investments.
- 02
Discovery
Short conversations and a paper trail of decisions, constraints, and existing patterns. One to two weeks.
- 03
Architecture
Substrate, golden-path templates, RBAC and tenancy, observability, and rollout plan, drafted as written documents.
- 04
Decision records
Each major choice captured with reasoning and alternatives considered, so the trail outlives the engagement.
- 05
Handover
Document review, walkthrough with the team, and an agreed split between what's done and what comes next.
What you'll have at the end
Written artifacts you can hand to your team or board.

Out of scope: Full platform build-out as a managed service, 24/7 on-call for the resulting platform, Application-level CI/CD tooling selection — happy to refer.
FAQ
- How is pricing structured?
- Pricing shared on the scoping call. Platform engagements vary too much to list-price. A short scoping call is enough to outline the likely shape, phases, and fee. Engagements are phased — a first phase commits to architecture and decision records; follow-on phases cover reference implementation or rollout support, scoped separately.
- Why no fixed fee?
- Platform engagements range from a two-week architectural review to a multi-month design-and-implementation partnership. Quoting a single price would either undersell the short end or misprice the long end — so pricing comes out of the scoping call, after the shape is clear.
- Are you tied to a specific substrate or stack?
- No. Substrate and tooling decisions come out of the engagement, not into it. The right answer depends on team shape, existing investments, and operational appetite.
- Can you stay on during rollout?
- Yes, as a time-boxed follow-on phase. Rollout support is hands-on time, billed at a fixed monthly rate, with a defined end date.

Most engagements start with a 30-minute scoping call. Pick a slot that works.
